Your friendly guide to a healthy hair journey.

The path my hair has been through was quite the roller coaster ride.

My mom has straight hair so she didn’t understand my hair type. Also growing up in Morocco the beauty standards are very western. So having frizzy hair as a kid in school and as a teenager did not help, my hair went through it all, from chemical straightening and having blowouts every weekend the heat damage finally killed it all, and I was left with dry thin damaged hair.

The breakthrough:

Once I have moved to Spain I have decided to let me hair have a break, then realized that the roots that were growing were curly, so then I started my curly hair journey. Fast forward 3 years my hair couldn’t be bigger and healthier.

Here are some tips and things I did that I would recommend you if you are going through the same thing on getting your natural hair back!

The before and after:

Stop the heat stop and chemicals:

This is an obvious one but very important, you have to stop ! no more heat on the hair it weaken the hair shaft that will result in frizz and thing hair.

Hair care:

then the journey of hair care starts, I used lots of hair oil baths and masks to my hair.

I started using whatever was available in my kitchen.

Here is a list of example of hair masks you can do to help your hair get its strength and moisture back:

Avocado
  • Avocado mask: Mash one ripe avocado and mix it with two tablespoons of coconut oil. Apply to damp hair, leave on for 20 minutes, and then rinse thoroughly.

Avocado can moisturize and nourish dry, damaged hair. It strengthen hair and prevent breakage, improve hair elasticity, soothe the scalp, and promote hair growth. https://www.medicalnewstoday.com/articles/321606#benefits

Banana and honey mask

Banana mask: Mash one ripe banana and mix it with two tablespoons of honey. Apply to damp hair, leave on for 30 minutes, and then rinse thoroughly.

Banana and honey both contain natural humectants that moisturize hair and repair damage.

They add shine and promote healthy hair growth while soothing an irritated scalp due to their vitamins and minerals. https://www.garnier.in/hair-care-tips/benefits-of-banana-for-hair#:~:text=Banana%20extracts%20have%20antioxidant%20and,get%20rid%20of%20flaky%20scalp.

homemade remedies

Egg mask: Beat one or two eggs and apply to damp hair. Leave on for 20 minutes, and then rinse with cool water.

Eggs are an excellent source of protein, biotin, and other essential vitamins and minerals that are beneficial for hair health. The protein in eggs helps to strengthen hair and prevent breakage, while biotin promotes healthy hair growth.

Eggs also contain vitamins A and E, which help to moisturize and nourish hair, and improve hair texture and shine.

Oil mask

Olive oil mask: Heat up half a cup of olive oil and apply it to damp hair. Wrap your hair with a warm towel and leave on for 30 minutes before rinsing.

Olive oil is rich in vitamins and antioxidants and its anti-inflammatory properties can help to soothe an irritated scalp.

It’s usage for help is widely famous in the Middle east and North Africa.
