When summer is around the corner, my friends and I cannot stop daydreaming about our day trips and long weekends getaways in Costa Brava, so If you are visiting Catalunya, Spain or live close by in Barcelona, Costa Brava is not to miss, it’s a paradise for beach lovers, water sports, sailing, snorkelling and nature lovers alike.
The region is home to some of the most beautiful beaches and calas in the world, very know for its charming coastal towns clear waters and medieval castles and small towns.
Here are my Top Calas / beaches in the region:
Calella de Palafrugell:
Calella de Palafrugell is a stunning coastal town, renowned for its charming, white-washed houses, winding streets, and crystal-clear waters. It’s a family-friendly destination with picturesque little beaches that are the perfect spot for a relaxing day out. The town is home to several beaches, including El Golfet, Canadell, and Port Bo, each of which has its own unique charm. Llafranc:

Local tip, try to come as early as possible to get a spot, as half of the beach is private, and you have to pay for the sunbed.
Cala Sa Tuna:
The cala is home to a charming fishing village, which offers visitors a glimpse into local life, as well as a variety of restaurants serving up fresh seafood dishes. It’s a must-visit destination for anyone exploring the Costa Brava region.
The beach if full of rocks so remember to bring water shoes and something comfortable to lay on.
Aiguafreda:
Aiguafreda is a secluded beach in the town of Begur. The beach is surrounded by cliffs and is accessible only by foot from Sa tuna beach or by boat. It is a quiet and peaceful spot, perfect for those who want to escape the crowds and enjoy the natural beauty of the landscapes, you have a nice restaurant on the cliff that offers all from tapas drinks and ice cream.
Tamariu:
Is a very small town in Begur region, that offers two types of beaches, one with golden sand and other with rocks, to each their own 😊, known for its vibrant culinary scene, with a variety of restaurants and bars serving up delicious seafood dishes and local wines. With its laid-back atmosphere and stunning natural surroundings.
